This study aimed to assess the force required for lateral patient transfers in a hospital setting and found a strong correlation between the force and patient weight. By establishing this correlation, the study developed a guide to help caregivers determine the number of personnel needed for a safe lateral transfer, emphasizing the importance of providing caregivers with information to prevent overexertion and injuries during such physical tasks.
